Summer is one of the most enjoyable seasons for most of us, but the constant heat can tend to get oppressive during the long days and balmy nights. Keeping cool and staying comfortable is important, but cranking up the A/C isn’t always ideal. Using A/C more often naturally means higher energy costs. But that doesn’t mean that the only way to keep your house cool is by turning on the air. Instead, there are other, more affordable ways to keep your house at an agreeable temperature that will still allow you to enjoy the summer without sweating and sticking to clothes, sheets, and furniture. You’ve got a home with skylights. They are dramatic, they are beautiful, and the light is amazing; you envision yourself in bed looking at blue skies and bright stars. Skylights may even be why you fell in love with your home. Perhaps you even added them.
While you can reduce the amount of electricity you use lighting rooms with skylights, you may spend a lot more cooling these rooms in summer. [Read more…]
Let the Home Decide
Building a new house, moving into a new home, or remodeling your existing home are among the leading life-changing events that lead homeowners to purchase custom-made window coverings. A Honeycomb Shade That Delivers Every Time!

It is just as important to be clear on how they will perform. Here are some of the many questions that we answer during our decision-making consultation.
- Will it be easy to operate?
- Will it let enough light in?
- Will it keep the light out?
- What is the difference between room-darkening and blackout?
- Will there be cords?
- How will I open and close the window covering if there are no cords?
- If I select remote control, where is the remote?
- Will it be easy to clean?
- How do I clean it?
- I have children or children who visit; are there any safety concerns with this product?
- This room is too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter; what will help?

And coming soon, Chicago’s Pullman neighborhood, a stunningly preserved 1880s town important in the history of architecture, urban planning, industry, and labor. [Read more…]
